KATIE VOLYNETS’ US OPEN JOURNEY

Katie Volynets entered the women’s main draw for the first time thanks to winning the Junior National Title in San Diego, CA just two weeks before the US Open. In the first round, she fell to an upcoming young Canadian star Bianca Andreescu who a little less than two weeks after her match went on beating Serena Williams in the finals. 17-year-old Katie used the opportunity and played the US Open Junior Tournament where her role from an underdog switched to one of the top favorites to win the title. After cruising through the first round she lost a tough match to a Colombian Osorio-Serrano who ended up winning the junior tournament.

Playing on the biggest stage in the tennis world and in front of the passionate crowd was a great experience for Katie. Congratulations, Katie! We’re proud to have you train here with us!
