JENSON BROOKSBY’S US OPEN JOURNEY

For the second consecutive year, 19-year-old Jenson Brooksby had an opportunity to compete against the best players in the world at the US Open held in New York’s Flushing Meadows. As a wild card, Jenson had to qualify through the loaded qualification draw to reach the US Open main draw. After a successful three rounds of qualies, the draw determined Jenson would face the former Grand Slam finalist and former top 4 in the world, Tomas Berdych from Czech Republic. Jenson started strong by winning the first set and even after Berdych’s attempt to bounce back by tying the match at one set a piece he was able to break his opponent’s serve in the last game of the third and fourth set to shock the tennis world by winning the match.

Playing Georgian Basilashvili, who’s currently ranked 18 in the world, seemed like a monumental task for Jenson in the second round. After a fearless start and taking the first set the ATP veteran from Georgia was able to keep his composure and use all experience he had to win the following three sets even though Jenson had multiple opportunities throughout the match.

Playing on the biggest stage in the tennis world and in front of the passionate crowd was a great experience for Jenson. Congratulations, Jenson! We’re proud to have you train here with us!
